The FOODNET Market information service
project disseminates market information through radio programs
this form of dissemination is most used because most of ugandas
population has access to radio and can listen in on the market
information
Through the
ACDI VOCA funded project under FOODNET, the MIS project market information is
disseminated on the following radio stations and locations: CBS 88.8 FM to
cover Buganda region, radio Kitara to cover Bunyoro region, Lira FM covering
Lango region, Open Gate FM covering Bugisu region.
Through the
NAADS funded local market information service market information was
disseminated through Spirit Fm to cover Mukono, Voice of Teso for Soroti,
Kagadi Community radio for Kibaale, Arua One for Arua Voice of Kigezi for
Kabale and Rock Fm for Tororo.
A host of
other radio stations are also broadcasting the MIS project market information.
Most the market information radio programmes on these radio stations are
sponsored by various organizations such as: In Kasese district, Area Based
Agricultural Modernisatipn Project (AAMP) is sponsoring market information
radio programmes in Rukonjo, Runyankore/Rukiga and English on Grace Radio
while in Arua, the North West Agricultural Project is also sponsoring market
information programs in Lugbara on Arua One FM.
Thus, most of
the Radio stations disseminating market information in Uganda use MIS project
output of radio scripts and price spreadsheets.
