Hand cranked ginger splitting machine

Purpose Splitting of ginger roots longitudinally
Capacity It can split 300-500 kg of fresh ginger roots per hour depending on the operator.
Target client Medium scale ginger farmers and groups
Advantage It is self adjusting and can split any size of ginger roots in 2 approximately equal halves. Splitting ginger roots greatly reduces the drying time of the product.
It also reduces the amount of losses as compared to drying randomly sliced ginger roots.
Disadvantage It is hand-cranked thus limiting its application to medium scale ginger processing operations

Market potential / Status Limited only in ginger producing areas of Uganda.

Comment Alternativly the cassava slicer has been used for slicing the ginger as this machine is cheaper and ligther.
