FEWS

The Famine Early Warning System (FEWS) is a key partner for FOODNET in terms of understanding the dynamics between market information and food security. Fews uses a range of information including weather data, market price data, consumer purchasing power to monitor and predict food vulnerability. Information gained from remote sources is verified using local, regional and international information. FEWS has assisted in much of the strategy and project development and can play an important support role for research as it has a wealth of long term information on commodities in each of the countries in which it works.
