Fitting into ASARECA
PRAPACE's goal is to increase and improve the food and nutritional
security, and incomes of potato/sweetpotato farmers and
other stakeholders through development and adoption of sustainable
production and processing technologies and promotion of
market opportunities.
As
the network is currently operating under the auspices
of ASARECA (Association for the Strengthening of Agricultural
Research in Eastern and Central Africa), PRAPACE is guided
by the strategies and priorities emerging from the long
term strategic plan developed by ASARECA for eastern and
central Africa region. ASARECA's primary goal is to stimulate
agricultural research system in eastern and central Africa
(ECA) in order to enable it play a leading role in promoting
market oriented agriculture.
The purpose is to promote regional economic growth by
generating and disseminating agricultural technologies
which create markets, respond to current and future economic
demands, and maintain the long term sustainability of
the agricultural resource base. ASARECA's goal is also
to promote nutritional security and increase incomes of
agricultural communities through maintenance of a sustainable
resource base.
